Public record · Corrections

Spotted something wrong? Tell us.

Unmist describes the public record on UK private clinics. The public record changes — practitioners move, registrations renew, websites get rewritten, regulators update their listings. We'd rather hear from you and fix it fast than be wrong for another day.

Section 01

Who this page is for

Anyone, on any side. You don't need to be a clinic owner or a registered practitioner to flag something — we treat corrections from patients, members of the public, journalists, regulators and clinic staff the same way. What matters is that the underlying fact can be checked.

The most common senders we expect:

  • Clinics and practitioners who want to update a regulator number, change a lead-clinician name, fix a qualification, correct an address, or replace an out-of-date website link;
  • Patients who notice that a clinic has moved, rebranded, or stopped offering a treatment we still list;
  • Regulators or journalists with a public record we've missed (a freshly-published register entry, a Companies House change, a notice we should be reflecting).

Section 02

What to send us

The shorter and more specific your message, the faster we can fix it. Useful ingredients:

  • The clinic name exactly as it appears on Unmist, plus the page URL if you have it to hand;
  • What is wrong — the specific chip, line, or section, not just "the page";
  • What it should say instead — the corrected fact stated plainly;
  • Where we can verify it — a link to the source. Public registers (GMC, GDC, CQC, Save Face, Companies House), the clinic's own website, or any primary document carry the most weight. We can't act on "trust me".

You can paste all of that into an email; there's no form to fill out and no account to create.

Section 03

How we handle a correction

Every correction we receive is reviewed by Unmist directly; there is no automated triage. These are service targets, not guaranteed legal deadlines. Our routine is:

  • Aim to acknowledge within 3 working days — we reply to confirm we've received your message and understand what you're asking us to change;
  • Verify against a primary source — we look up the regulator, the company filing, or the clinic page ourselves rather than relying on a screenshot;
  • Fix and date the change — when verified, we update the relevant field and (where appropriate) add the dated correction to the log below;
  • Reply to you — we close the loop with a short note saying what we changed and when. If we can't act, we explain why.

Our target turn-around for a verified, narrow factual change is seven calendar days from receipt. Complex cases (a name change reflected in some registers but not others, a contested CQC entry, a disputed practitioner qualification) can take longer; we'll keep you in the loop while we work it out.

Section 04

What we will fix

The corrections route is for narrow factual errors and stale data on the public record:

  • practitioner names, GMC / GDC numbers, qualifications, or roles that are wrong or out of date;
  • regulator chips that no longer match the live register (e.g. a CQC registration we missed, or a professional accreditation shown for a Verified clinic that has lapsed);
  • addresses, websites or trading-name aliases that have changed;
  • listed treatments the clinic no longer offers, or currently-offered treatments we've missed;
  • press articles or ad and ASA links on the public-footprint panel that point to the wrong source or have been corrected at source.

These are exactly the things we can fix quickly because they can be checked against a primary source.

Section 05

What this page is not for

Some requests need a different route — usually because the underlying record is true and lawfully presented, or because the issue is a legal one rather than a factual one:

  • Removal of a clinic page entirely, or removal of a true factual line you simply prefer wasn't public — please use our Notice & Takedown process;
  • Defamation, copyright, privacy, or intellectual property complaints — same place: Notice & Takedown sets out the legal grounds we'll act on and what we need to evaluate them;
  • Editorial requests to soften a chip, hide the "what's missing" section, or upgrade a public-footprint summary — we don't take editorial requests from clinics. The flip side is that no clinic can pay or persuade us to make their page look worse either, which is the whole point;
  • Faster or different treatment because a clinic is on our paid Verified tier. Payment does not buy editorial changes, correction priority, ranking, removal, or softer wording. Free and Verified clinics go through exactly the same correction process above — same verification standard, same target turnaround, same public log;
  • Medical or clinical questions — Unmist is not a medical service. If you're worried about a treatment outcome, contact your GP, the clinic, or the relevant regulator directly. Our disclaimer explains why we draw the line where we do.

Section 06

Anonymity and what we publish

You can ask for a correction without giving your name. We'll still verify the underlying fact against a primary source before changing anything, and we'll still reply if you give us an address to reply to.

When we add an entry to the public corrections log below, we describe the change in neutral terms and date it. We do not publish the sender's name, email, or any private content of their message unless they explicitly ask us to attribute the correction to them.

Section 07

Public corrections log

When we change a verified fact on a clinic page in response to a correction, we record it here so the change is visible outside the page itself. Each entry says what changed and on what date.
