Hair transplant in the UK — public-record checks before you fly anywhere.

In England, hair-transplant surgery may be a CQC-regulated activity and the provider and location must be registered for the relevant scope. Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland have different healthcare regulators. Here is what to verify.

Five things to ask before you book

  1. 01

Does the surgeon personally carry out the extraction and implantation — or technicians?

  2. 02

Is the clinic CQC-registered for surgical procedures?

  3. 03

How many grafts would I need — and what happens to the price if more are needed on the day?

  4. 04

Could I see healed results of yours — a year on, not just fresh?

  5. 05

Might I need a second procedure later for density?

Check a clinic near you

Type a clinic name, or a town or postcode for the clinics nearby — in our catalogue and public Google listings. We never rank clinics and never take payment to list one.

If you allow location access, we reduce it in your browser to an approximate 1 km area. That point appears in the results URL and short-lived server logs and is sent to our location and nearby-clinic providers for this search. Privacy details

Frequently asked

Is hair transplant in the UK regulated?

In England, check the exact provider and location on the CQC register and the doctor on the GMC register. Technicians may assist, but the surgical steps should be carried out by the appropriately trained, licensed doctor responsible for the procedure.

What is the difference between FUE and FUT?

FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction) removes individual follicular units one at a time, leaving small dot scars. FUT (Follicular Unit Transplantation) removes a strip of scalp and harvests follicles from it, leaving a linear scar. Both can produce excellent results; technique matters less than surgeon skill.

How long until I see results?

This varies by person, so Unmist does not give clinical advice. Transplanted hair commonly sheds in the first weeks (shock loss) before regrowing over the following months, with fuller results appearing later. Ask the clinic what timeline they expect for you, and be cautious of promises of much faster results.

What is the difference between a clinic and a "hair restoration centre"?

Hair-transplant surgery in England may involve regulated activities. Check the exact premises on the official CQC register and the responsible clinician on the appropriate professional register before booking. Unmist does not infer registration from labels such as “clinic” or “centre”.
