Laser hair removal — public-record checks before you book.

Laser hair removal in England is largely outside the CQC scope, but the device and the operator both matter. Here is what to verify.

Five things to ask before you book

  1. 01

Is it safe and effective for my skin tone — and do you patch test first?

  2. 02

Is the device a medical-grade laser or IPL — and which one?

  3. 03

How many sessions would I likely need, and what does maintenance cost?

  4. 04

How uncomfortable is it, and what do you do to manage that?

  5. 05

Who operates the device, and how were they trained on it?

Check a clinic near you

Type a clinic name, or a town or postcode for the clinics nearby — in our catalogue and public Google listings. We never rank clinics and never take payment to list one.

If you allow location access, we reduce it in your browser to an approximate 1 km area. That point appears in the results URL and short-lived server logs and is sent to our location and nearby-clinic providers for this search. Privacy details

Frequently asked

Is laser hair removal CQC-regulated?

Laser hair removal performed exclusively for cosmetic purposes is generally not CQC-regulated in England. Treatment of a disease, disorder or injury can fall within CQC scope, and some local councils separately require laser or IPL practitioners or premises to register. Ask which device is used, who operates it, how they were trained, whether local registration applies and whether they patch test first.

Is IPL the same as laser?

No. IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) uses a broad-spectrum xenon flash; laser uses a single wavelength. Laser is typically more effective on coarse dark hair; IPL covers a broader area faster. The clinic should explain which device they use and why.

How many sessions do I need?

This depends on your hair and skin, so Unmist does not give clinical advice. Ask the clinic how many sessions they would expect for you, how far apart they should be spaced, and what any maintenance would cost — and be cautious of claims of "permanent removal in one session".
